Crete. What to see when vacationing in Hersonissos?
If you are enjoying a holiday in Hersonissos, then you have a great chance to visit a number of interesting places on your own in Crete. From Hersonissos, you can also go to the opposite side of Heraklion to the east. At the same time, you should stop in Agios Nikolaos. It is a very pretty city, gracefully descending to the sea coast. In the eastern part of Crete, the terrain has a more picturesque rocky character than in the west. In the center of Agios Nikolaos lies the magnificent Lake Vulizmeni, in the waters of which, according to legend, Artemis and Athena liked to swim. The lake shores present excellent landscapes – on the one hand, cliffs and recreation areas, and a bunch of attractive fishing taverns on the other.
